Policies for Small Group Classes

Please complete and mail in the Registration Form with payment to La Jolla LearningWorks. Payment for classes is required in full to reserve your child’s spot. Classes are subject to cancellation without minimum enrollment.

Learning How to Learn: Study Skills 101

What It’s All About: Being a successful student takes effective study skills, organization, and time management. Our individualized Study Skills program teaches students strategies that fit their learning styles to improve grades and reduce stress during the school year.

Who Would Benefit: Students entering Grades 5-7.

Schedule: M-Th. 10:00-11:30AM, Session A: Aug. 9-13th; Session B: Aug. 16-19th

Fee: $149 (4 class meetings)

Get Ready for Kindergarten!

What It’s All About: Generate curiosity and enthusiasm for learning through exploration of award-winning books and primary school concepts! Students move and groove to songs and enjoy games and activities to build basic number and alphabet concepts.

Who Would Benefit: Students entering Kindergarten in the fall.

Schedule: M-Th 9:00-9:45am, Aug. 16-19th

Fee: $120

Literacy Toolbox

What It’s All About: Beginning readers sharpen their “tools” for reading, writing, and spelling with fun and creative activities. Ideal for students with budding reading skills (knowledge of all letters & sounds and beginning to blend words) to prepare them for a successful fall.

Who Would Benefit: Students entering Grades 1-2 in the fall.

Schedule: M-Th 10:00-11:00am, Aug. 16-19th

Fee: $149

Get Prepped! ISEE Test Preparation Classes

What It’s All About: ISEE small group classes target one section of the test each week. Students gain strategies and strengthen skills to boost their performance on the test and beyond! Classes can be taken as a series or independently. Diagnostic testing is available to determine areas in need of improvement.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 4:00-5:30PM. See below for Session 1 and Session 2 dates.

Fee: $149/Class (includes 4 class meetings).

Word Wizards--Mastering Verbal Reasoning

Dates: July 5-8th, August 2-5th

Description: Students will acquire tools to reason with language through roots, prefixes, suffixes, as well as powerful word associations to strengthen their vocabulary skills.

Wonders with Numbers--Mastering ISEE Math

Dates: July 12-15th, August 9-12th

Description Success on ISEE Math requires problem solving skill and steady work habits. Students will learn step-by-step strategies to a variety of math concepts to bolster their test-taking savvy.

Reading Sleuths--Mastering ISEE Reading Comprehension

Dates: July 19-22th, August 16-19th

Description: A reading sleuth knows that comprehension is more than reading words—you have to read between the lines, too! Students will gather clues to identify main ideas, find key details, and make inferences for higher level analysis.

Expert Essays--Mastering ISEE Writing

Dates: July 26-29th, August 23-26th

Description:An important part of the application package, students learn how to produce a well-written essay in the 30-minute time limit no matter the question.
